Brief introduction
Laboratory of Biomedical Phytochemistry, also
called "First Lab" in our department, used to research on the processing
techniques of fruits / vegetables and the science of phytochemistry since 1950s. During
those periods, Honorary Professors Yung-Chuan Huang, Tzuu-Tar Fang and Dr. Pin-Lee Tsai
had made significant contributions to the development of agriculture industry in Taiwan.
In February 2001, Dr. Fuu Sheu was recruited to
administer this laboratory. Facing the necessity of the 21-century, Dr. Sheu turns the
research direction to the biomedical science and biotechnology of functional components in
fruits and vegetables. Now we spend lots efforts on investigating new phytoid proteins
with medical potentiality, cloning their genes and evaluating their physiological
activities such as anti-tumor, preventing obesity and immunomodulatory effects.
